Do you do farm visits?
In Baltimore City, Neith Little, the Urban Agriculture Extension Educator can visit commercial (growing food or other products for sale) in-person to offer technical assistance and help you troubleshoot challenges like pest and disease problems, high tunnel management, harvest and packing, food safety, nutrient management, soil health, and more. Please understand that she will need to schedule an in-person visit in advance. If you are a new technical assistance client, she will probably ask to schedule an introductory phone call or Entrepreneurial Coaching session first. To request technical assistance with commercial urban farming, please email Neith Little at nglittle@umd.edu
In other parts of Maryland, look for the Agricultural Extension educator or Commercial Horticulture Extension Educator in your County Extension office. On the Eastern Shore and in Southern Maryland, you can also ask the advice of your local representative of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Extension's Small Farms Program.
And don't forget about our online help networks. Farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs can get one-on-one business and marketing advice through our Virtual Entrepreneurial Coaching program. Both farmers and home gardeners can get their technical questions answered through our Ask an Expert service.
