Coronavirus Food Assistance Program Resources are Now Available USDA has recently announced a new program to provide assistance to growers and livestock producers who aced price declines and additional marketing costs due to COVID-19. The new Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) will begin to signup on May 26 and close on August 28th. See https://www.farmers.gov/cfap from USDA.
Debt Collection Phone Calls Owing a debt you cannot pay comes with many challenges. Just because you have an outstanding debt, however, debt collectors do not have the right to harass you with abusive phone calls. When debt collectors contact you, they are required to interact with you with respect and dignity.
Valuing On-Farm Heir’s Sweat Equity Is Complicated: Agreements Can Fairly Compensate On-Farm Heirs             Determining the value of sweat equity can be both challenging and controversial for farm families. Sweat equity arises as an issue when an on-farm heir receives payment at below market rate, and the farm business grows in size due to an on-farm heir’s below-market labors. Land in the farm may also appreciate in value due to the work of the on-farm heir.
