Opening Presenter: 

Val Cordrey

Valery Cordrey is co-owner of East Coast Garden Center, RSC Landscaping, The Cordrey Center, the Mary Jane and Richard Cordrey Enrichment Center, and The Secret Garden!  She also works closely with Cordrey Charities and loves promoting the joys of gardening to those of all ages. Valery has a B.S. in Business from the University of Delaware and is an active Master Gardener.  She appreciates the excitement of the Garden Center, with great people, loyal, interesting customers and knowledgeable, friendly employees.  Valery enjoys the creativity of new plants, landscape designing, customized containers – and especially the educational and fun classes! She shares her passion with the listeners of 92.7 WGMD through the radio show “The Potting Shed” every Saturday from 9 am – 10 am and daily at the Garden Center. 

Luncheon Presenter:

Laurie DeYoung

Laurie DeYoung has been the voice of WPOC's morning show since 1985.  She ofter gets asked if she's always been on a country station and the answer is no.  WPOC is the only country station she has ever hosted a show on.  There were several other stations before she landed in Baltimore, in fact WPOC is her ninth.  

Laurie has been nominated for broadcast awards from many organizations thru-out her career including R&R, Billboard and Country Music Association.  In 1994 she won the CMA's largemarket radio personality award.  In 1995 the CMA added major markets to their list and Laurie has been nominated many times for that as well.  In 2010 she was inducted into the Country Music DJ Hall of Fame in Nashville.

Mindie Burgoyne

Mindie Burgoyne, is a travel writer, blogger, author, tour guide and speaker.  Her focus is traveling within the context of a story to mystical – magical places that stir the mind and spirit.  She’s also the organizer of a travel club for girlfriends called The Travel Hags.

Mindie has written three books on regional travel and her writings and photographs have been featured in the Baltimore Sun, CBS News, National Geographic Television Network, the Today Show, Maryland Life Magazine, What’s Up Eastern Shore, the National Catholic Reporter, Guideposts, the Vancouver Sun, Metropolitan Magazine and Notre Dame Magazine as well as numerous business and travel websites including the Irish Fireside which named her blog posts among the best writing of Irish interest in both 2010 and 2011.

Mindie currently runs four blog sites and operates packaged tours for women who want to travel with girlfriends – Travel Hags.

Formerly the publisher of Trinity Music and The Pastoral Press in Washington, DC, Mindie and her husband, Dan have moved to the rural Eastern Shore of Maryland where she continues to write, guide tours and speak at conferences and events.

Whenever Mindie and Dan can make time, they roll along American roads with r-pod in tow, scouting out the best fishing spots, flatwater kayaking trails, historic towns, haunted houses, and the friendly people along the way.  This makes for interesting writing.
