| Weed Problem | Chemical rate per acre | Product per acre | Treatment Time | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chickweed, cress (mouse-ear), dogfennel, garlic (wild), geranium (Carolina), knawel or German moss, mustard spp., shepherdspurse, swinecress, and suppression of cutleaf evening primrose, henbit, lettuce (prickly), radish (wild), and thistle (Canada) | Thifensulfuron-methyl and
Tribenuron-methyl 0.014-0.028 lb + surfactant or liquid nitrogen fertilizer |
Harmony Extra SG 0.45-0.9 oz
+ surfactant (0.5 to 4.0 pt/100 gal) or liquid nitrogen fertilizer |
Postemergence | Best results obtained when applications are made to young, actively growing weeds. Annual broadleaf weeds should be past the cotyledon stage, actively growing, and less than 4" tall or wide. Wild garlic plants should be less than 12" tall with 2" to 4" of new growth. Make applications after the crop is in the second leaf stage, but before the flag leaf is visible. Delay applications until weeds have emerged. Do not graze or feed forage or hay from treated areas to livestock. Harvested straw may be used for bedding or feed. Do not plant any crop other than wheat, barley, oats or triticale for 45 days after application. Always premix Harmony Extra SG in water before adding to spray tank. Refer to the chart below for mixing instructions with respect to liquid-nitrogen carriers, surfactants, and combinations. |
| Same as above. | Approved combinations:
tank-mix with 2,4-D or Banvel/Clarity |
Postemergence | Use for improved control of vetch, wild radish, and other difficult-to-control species. | |
| Barnyardgrass, foxtail sp., Italian ryegrass, volunteer oats, wild oats | Penoxaden 0.053 lb | Axial 0.83 EC 8.2 oz | Apply by ground in 4 - 10 gallons per acre using flat fan nozzles or by air using a minimum of 5 gallons per acre. Apply in combination with Adigor adjuvant at 9.6 oz per acre. Apply to wheat and barley from the 2-leaf to pre-boot stage. Apply to Italian ryegrass with 1 - 5 leaves on the main stem and prior to emergence of the third tiller. Some naturally occurring infestations of Italian ryegrass have been identified as resistant to the ACC-ase inhibiting family of herbicides of which Axial is a member. Selection of resistant biotypes, through repeated use of these herbicides in the same field, may result in control failures. Axial may be tank-mixed with Amber, Bronate Advanced, Buctril, Finesse, Harmony Extra XP, Harmony GT XP, MCPA, or Peak for broadleaf weed control. Do not apply in combination with 2,4-D or dicamba. Do not graze or harvest hay from treated areas for 50 days followsing application or harvest grain for 60 days following application. Do not use on barley that will be grazed or ensiled. Rotational restrictions include 0 days for barley and wheat, 30 days for leafy and root crops, and 120 days for all other crops. |
