Obesity is a public and family health issue discussed widely in the public news and professional publications. Keeping up with that news and having research-based information readily available is a challenge for today's educated consumer; students of nutrition, public health, family studies and related disciplines; public health, physical activity and nutrition practitioners; teachers; members of the media and Cooperative Extension faculty.
Public policy makers in the statehouse and school house, in rural, suburban and urban communities across the state are struggling to find ways to prevent or reduce associated diseases and health conditions--conditions that decrease the health and quality of living for both youth and adults of Maryland.
Maryland Cooperative Extension, through its Public Issues Education faculty, created this website to serve all seeking to learn more about obesity as a public health issue.
