This past year I have worked with a variety of youth groups.  Some of these groups include the after school program at the elementary level, in school health class lessons on obesity for high school students, the head start program and a group of pre-school daycare youth.  I was planning a food safety lesson for a fifth grade class.  The teacher sent me an email about the topic she wanted. She added that her 4-year old son goes to the Mexico Farms Child Care Center; this is one of the sites I taught at this year. She said.  “When you teach a lesson at the center, he talks about it nonstop all the way home. I thought this would make you feel good!! He is always talking about nutrition now!!”  That email made me feel good; this is the kind of feed back I like to hear.  It tells me that the program makes a difference and that the youth are listening and sharing the lessons that are made available to them.  I have been asked to come back next year to my previous program sites and have had calls to set up new program sites for next year.  This is what makes the program a great success.
