My success came from the comments made to me by the parents of the children that I teach health and nutrition to in the third grade Title I schools. Mrs. S. is a parent aide who works at one of the schools where I teach and listens in on my lessons while she is there working. She stopped me one day in the hall to tell me that she has learned a lot from me and that I am very good at what I do. Her daughter is in another third grade class so they look forward to comparing notes with each other at the end of the day discussing what all they both had learned.

Mrs. M, a concerned parent, had noticed her daughter's weight gain over the previous summer. Through my classes they both started to look at the Food Guide Pyramid as far as the number of servings and reading food labels to learn about portion control.
