In 2008-2009 EFNEP Youth Educators delivered nutrition education programs to 8,849 youth in 8 Maryland counties and the city of Baltimore.

As a result of participating in EFNEP

43% of 1,396 youth from 39 groups now eat a variety of foods;
72% of 5,392 youth from 145 groups increased knowledge of the essentials of human nutrition;
65% of 727 youth from 21 groups increased their ability to select low-cost, nutritious foods;
52% of 4,715 youth from 120 groups improved practices in food preparation and safety.
