Rolling Clovers June 2016 Meeting

June is Dairy Month was recognized at the Rolling Clovers 4-H Club meeting on June 6. Marissa Roberts gave a demonstration on “How to fit a Heifer for Fitting and Showing. Allison Stoner gave a demonstration on “How to show a pig”. Allison and Marissa showed how to make an ice cream sandwich cake. The group enjoyed it for refreshments.

The meeting was held at the homes of Allison Stoner and Marissa Roberts.

The meeting was called to order by the vice-president, Gaby Hockensmith Reports were given by Marissa Roberts, Susan Lawrence and Sandra Stonesifer. Thank you letters were read by Emily Schildwachter.

Marissa Roberts received Reserve Grand Champion, Junior Champion and a 1st and 5th with her Guernsey heifer at the Richard Wills Fair. At the Guernsey State Field Day she received Reserve Champion in the youth and open show. She received 2-1sts and 1 3-rd in the 4-H show and a 1st and 2nd in open show.

Allison Stoner exhibited at the Mill Show and received 2-2nds and 1-3rd.

Allison Stoner, Zeke Willet and Justin Shaffer participated in an animal corral at the Taneytown Library on June 21.

Jacquelyn Slade, Ben Schildwachter, Allison Stoner and Marissa Roberts participated in a Ceramic Workshop at Vintage Colors in Taneytown.

Johanna and Janice Judy presented a foods workshop to club members on June 20. Pam Bell presented a photography workshop to club members.

Members were encouraged to sell raffle tickets to benefit the Carroll County Fair. The raffle will take place at the fair.

The Rolling Clovers 4-H Club enjoyed a picnic prior to their business meeting on July 11. The picnic was held at Taneytown Memorial Park.

The business meeting was called to order by the order by the vice-president, Gaby Hockensmith. Reports were given by Jacquelyn Slade, Susan Lawrence and Sandra Stonesifer.

Emily Schildwachter read a thank you from Soldier’s Angels.

Austin Stoner attended the Summer Spectacular Livestock Show in Springfield, Il. He received a Best in Class and a 3rd.

Gaby Hockensmith attended a horse show and received 2-3rds and 2-6ths.

The clovers met on July 12 and worked on the club’s service learning display.

The club is responsible for Red Building Guard Duty on Mon Aug. 1 from 5-10PM and kitchen duty on Mon Aug. 1 from 7-9PM at the County Fair. Fair participants are expected to help with Fair Set Up or Fair Clean Up.

The club voted to donate a Family Portrait Package for the Silent Auction at the County Fair.

Club members are invited to take their fair entries to Lorien Home on Aug. 15 to share with the residents.

The next meeting will be Sept. 13 at 7PM at Baust Church Parish Hall. The program will be plants and flower demonstrations. The clovers will meet Sept. 12 at 7PM at the Parish Hall. The program will be Small Pet Show.
