Whether you’re just getting started or have established markets, the “Marketing Your Farm-Raised Meats in Maryland Workshop” will provide valuable resources and information to help improve your profitability.  The Baltimore-Washington corridor offers an excellent market for farm-raised, local meats and poultry, but processing regulations, selecting marketing channels, pricing, and logistics can be challenging for producers.  This workshop addresses those challenges.

Matt LeRoux
Agricultural Marketing Specialist, Cornell Cooperative Extension

Matt LeRoux, Ag Marketing specialist, south central NY Ag team, CCE. Matt works with a diverse mix of produce and livestock producers in the southern tier of NY. In 2008 Matt developed the Marketing Channel Assessment Tool to assist producer decision making and improve marketing performance. Matt has a background in livestock marketing and recently completed a Master's in food marketing at Cornell.

Brian Moyer
Penn State Extension, Program Assistant 

Brian is a past board member of PASA (Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture) and a past board member of APPPA (American Pastured Poultry Producers Association) as well as former Director for Rural Vermont, a farm advocacy organization. Brian was the founder and manager of the Skippack Farmers Market located in Montgomery County. His area of expertise is direct to consumer marketing, poultry and meat regulations, and farmers markets. 

Brian and his wife Holley own and run Green Haven Farm and raise grass-fed livestock on their 27 acre farm just outside of Fleetwood in Berks County. Since 1998, they've sold chicken, eggs, lamb, pork, and goat too.

Jillian Twilley
Maryland Department of Agriculture, Assistant Director for Food Quality Assurance

Jillian has 5 years’ experience as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist as a Local Health Sanitarian/Inspector. She is graduating in May 2013 with a Master’s degree in Public Health.
