Carrollton Club Horticulture Night

On Monday March 6, 2017 Carrollton 4-H Club held their horticulture night. In the beginning of the meeting, Heather Goldman of Hampstead, MD and Emmalee Sanders of Littlestown, PA were pinned as new members of the club and they were welcomed with much applause.

After the pinning ceremony, Ms. Maryanne Turner, Superintendent of Plants and Flowers for the Carroll County 4-H Fair and also an employee at Bowman’s Home and Garden Store was introduced as the guest speaker for the evening. Ms. Turner proudly announced that "fairy gardens" will be a new entry category at this year's fair. She explained the new category and also encouraged members to get started on their projects early.

Members then had the opportunity to participate in 4 workshops.  Serena Newton led a workshop about plant identification. Michelle Victor held a terrarium in a jar workshop. Matthew Nevin organized a tropical plant basket workshop. Caleb, Charlotte, and Brenna Chamelin taught members how to make a chocolate pudding planter. As usual 4-Hers ended the night with fun and heathy snacks.
