- Do I need to live on a farm to join 4-H?
A resounding NO! 50% of Washington County 4-H members are living in city, township and community areas or working on the many projects offered in the environmental and human sciences areas.
- What is a project?
A project is a subject that a 4-H member has an interest in and signs on to develop that interest. The Washington County 4-H Office maintains an inventory of selected manuals that contain a series of progressive, experiential (hands-on) learning activities to guide them. There are also adult volunteers to lend assistance. During this learning process, the 4-H member also developes such life skills as decision making, creative thinking, understanding self, responsibility, acquiring knowledge, communication, and getting along with others.
- Do you have to pay dues to be in 4-H?
The Washington County 4-H Office does not charge any membership dues. All programming is paid for by fundraising and grants. Also, there is no uniform expense required.
If any of the individual clubs charges dues, that money stays in the club and is used only for that club's activities.
