4-H Youth Development enjoys a rich history in Washington County. From the Washington County Ag Expo Fair to after-school enrichment programs, 4-H is an integral part of Washington County. The faculty, staff, and volunteers of the Washington County 4-H Youth Development Program dedicate many hours to the enrichment of Washington County's youth.
4-H is the youth development program of Maryland Cooperative Extension. 4-H teaches youth valuable life skills through an informal, hands-on education. Youth participate in workshops, field trips, camps, fairs, and club meetings to gain knowledge in their specific area of interest. Public speaking, personal responsibility, and other valuable life skills are emphasized in all project areas. 4-Hers can earn trips, scholarships, and more through 4-H.
Washington County 4-H Youth Development offers opportunities through many different programs such as 4-H Resident Camp, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), Adventures in Agriculture Day Camp, School Enrichment Programs, and partnering with after-school programming. These programs broaden the experiences of youth and help to develop responsible, productive citizens.
4-H is only possible with the help of hundreds of volunteers. club leaders, project leaders, contest coordinators, teachers and childcare providers. People who want to make a difference, share their knowledge, and love working with children make the best teachers for our children.
