The primary objective of 4-H is the
development of the young person. The Somerset County 4-H Youth
Development program provides a supportive setting for all youth to
reach their fullest potential. Youth learn beneficial, cognitive
and life skills through community-focused, research-based,
educational programs. 4-H members "learn by doing" through numerous
4-H projects. Projects are designed to enable individuals to
progress at their own pace through learning experiences that
develop life skills and subject matter competencies. With the
guidance of parents, volunteers, or teen leaders, knowledge is
applied to practical life experiences. The project is the teaching
tool.
