2011 Cicada Sighting in St. Mary's County

A special “song” was heard in a small part of St. Mary’s County lately. Beginning in late May, Periodical Cicadas, part of the southern Brood XIX were sighted in Dameron, MD.  Gail Whitney, a UME-St. Mary's 4-H Program Assistant and Master Gardener, spotted signs of the cicadas at her home in Dameron  and contacted Dr. Mike Raupp, Professor of Entomology and Extension Specialist, to tell him the exciting news.  Click the link below to read a full article on the Cicada sighting in St. Mary's County.
