QA County 4-H & Youth

What is 4-H?

The 4-H program in Queen Anne's County is the youth education arm of University of Maryland Extension. Its programs include traditional 4-H clubs and project driven workshops in the areas of animal and plant science, personal development and leadership, natural resources, science and technology, consumer and family life, communication and expressive arts, citizenship and healthy lifestyles.

4-H educators provide in-school programming in a multitude of areas including embryology, recycling, conflict resolution, life sciences and safety. Community service workshops are also held in areas of reading enrichment, expressive arts, and food and nutrition.

The 4-H program provides the opportunity for youth to gain basic life and social skills, which will enable them to become productive contributing members of our community. These objectives are accomplished through community focused, research-based educational programs furnished by extension faculty and staff and supported by a force of trained and MCE certified adult volunteers.

What 4-H Stands for?

The four "H's" in 4-H stand for head, heart, hands, and health. For more information about Maryland's 4-H program, visit the Maryland 4-H Homepage .
