What is 4-H? 4-H is the youth development program of Maryland Cooperative Extension. 4-H teaches youth valuable life skills through informal hands-on education.
Youth participate in workshops, field trips, camps, fairs, and club meetings to gain knowledge in their areas of interest.
Public speaking, personal responsibility, and other valuable life skills are emphasized in all project areas. 4-H members can earn trips, scholarships, and more through 4-H. 4-H is open to youth ages 5-19. Youth have the opportunity to participate in community clubs, special interest clubs, and after-school programs. 4-H has been an active part of Allegany County for many years. Thousands of young people have participated in our 4-H programs developing their skills in leadership, citizenship, and achievement. 4-H work is made possible through the efforts of the Extension Educator for 4-H and a framework of trained community volunteers who coordinate 4-H clubs, events, workshops, and activities.
