                          2019 Howard County 4-H Camp

                                        June 23rd-June 29th, 2019

Howard County 4-H Camp is scheduled for June 23rd-June 29th, 2019 and will be held at the Western Maryland 4-H Educational Center in Garrett County. Eligible campers must be age 8 to 14 by January 1st

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2019 camp.   Please find the list below of items that need to be completed and returned with an application.  Prior to signing, please review the forms entirely and understand the policies that all youth and adults must follow while at camp.  Reviewing the 2019 Howard County 4-H Camp Letter will provide further information as well. 

A complete application packet must be submitted as soon as possible to the University Maryland Extension Howard County Office at 3300 North Ridge Rd., Suite 240, Ellicott City, MD 21043. 4-Hers have priority with registration until April 8th.  A completed packet consists of:

  • Complete Application/Registration Form including all signatures.
  • Completed Health Form and picture, including all signatures. (Keep pages 5 and 6 to be completed and signed off on by a physician) Please note, if camper is bringing medication, keep pages 5 and 6 of the health form, to be completed and signed off by a physician. All other pages as well as a picture must be returned with application in order to be processed.
  • Completed Youth Code of Conduct Form, including all signatures.
  • Completed Youth Release and Consent to Participate Form, including all signatures.
  • Completed Sunscreen Form, including all signatures and brand.
  • Check made payable to the “Howard County EAC” in the amount of $420.00 for all campers or $370.00 for Teen Leaders.

Once your application is received it is logged in the computer on a first-come-first-served basis.  When the 4-H’er camp priority deadline has passed, additional information will be mailed to all applicants regarding acceptance into the 2019 Howard County Camp. Note- pages 5 and 6 of the health Form will be due with additional forms provided in the Camp Acceptance Packet.  

 Mark your calendars- Parent orientation will be held on May 23, 2019 at the Howard County Fairgrounds at 7p.m.

  • Teen Leaders will depart from Howard County Fairgrounds 4-H Activities Hall at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019.

     

    If you know in advance you can’t make a training please email Chris Rein at Crein@umd.edu.  If you miss any trainings you will be responsible for making up hours with a written assignment covering topics that was missed. Please contact Chris Rein if you need to make up hours.  

     

    MAKE UP TRAINING DATE-

    Everyone is expected to attend one of the State Camp Training. Howard County will host on Saturday March 30, 2019.   The other dates offered are Saturday April 13, 2019 in Anne Arundel County Extension Office and Saturday May 11,2019 at the Frederick County Camping Center.   

     

    If you miss the Certification Class for First Aid and CPR it will have to be taken at your own expense.  On May 18, 2019 you will need to bring a bag lunch if you have to complete both First Aid & CPR training.   UME will provide drinks and snacks at all trainings.
