UME launched Grow It Eat It in 2009 in response to the surge of interest in food gardening and the economic recession. UME Master Gardeners (MGs) across the state have been the driving force behind the program’s expansion and success. MGs will teach you how to start a garden using best practices that ensure the safety of your food and health of your garden spaces and the surrounding environment.
MGs and food gardeners are supported by the Home and Garden Information Center’s rich online resources. Explore the Vegetables and Fruits sections for a wealth of growing information and check out our social media pages and GIEI blog - chock-full of useful tips and photos from a wide range of authors.
