The University of Maryland Extension in Talbot  County held an art contest for students, grades 3-12.  The participants were asked to express through art and a brief statement, why they feel it is important to preserve the Chesapeake Bay and the waterways.  Six finalists were chosen and one lucky winner will be awarded a scholarship check from the sales of these note cards in the spring of 2012.  This program is funded by the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays 2010 Trust Fund’s Local Implementation Grant for the Tred Avon River.  This grant was awarded to Talbot County Public Works and University of Maryland Extension in Talbot County.
 
The cost of the cards is $5 for a set of six or $8 for two sets.  To purchase these cards, you can visit any Talbot County Master Gardener event or come to the Talbot Extension Office located at 28577 Mary’s Court, Suite 1, Easton, Maryland 21601.
