Maryland MG License Plates

Treat yourself to a Maryland Master Gardener license plate! Fly those MG colors and logo everywhere! We can show the world who we are as we drive around with our great new MG plates!

September 2011: We are starting the MG license plate program back up. Below you'll see what the new plate looks like. We've added the word "Extension" below the logo.
Interested? If interested, please send Robin (contact info below) your name, current plate number, and contact (address, phone, email, and MG County or City) information. She'll send you out the necessary form and instructions.

Who Can Order a MG License Plate?
Any certified Master Gardener will be able register their passenger car, multi-purpose vehicle, truck (1 ton or less) and motorcycle with Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles to display the new Organizational Maryland Master Gardener License Plate. You may register more than one vehicle for an organizational plate. However, the Master Gardener must be either the owner or co-owner of that vehicle.

How to get a Vehicle Registration Application
To request an application(s) to register your vehicle, please contact Robin Hessey, at the state MG office, by one of the following methods:
(1)    e-mail at rmhessey@umd.edu
(2)    snail-mail at HGIC, 12005 Homewood Rd.,     Ellicott City, MD 21042
(3)    by telephone at 410 531-1754.

Give Robin your name, tag number, address, telephone number, e-mail address and your Master Gardener County.

The one-time fee for the license plates will be $45.00 (fee established by Jon Traunfeld, Maryland State Master Gardener Coordinator). $25 of this fee will go directly to the Department of Motor Vehicles and $20 will go to support the Master Gardener Program.

You will mail the form (both copies) and checks back to Robin who will then submit the application, along with the $25.00 registration fee to the Department of Motor Vehicles. The plates will be mailed directly to the Master Gardener. Once your organizational plate is received, you are responsible for returning the old plates to the Department of Motor Vehicles (within 30 days).

Once you have your MVA registration form, follow these directions to fill it in.
