For Master Gardeners

Registration for the November 2009 mini-conference is now closed although you can still read the course descriptions and directions.   Here are the handouts for all the speaker's talks that have been received thus far.

Montgomery County MGs can obtain discounts at local nurseries by showing your badge.

We have created a file that contains all 200 Fact sheets that are publicly available in PDF format.  The fact sheets are organized for your use into 11 categories.  You can click on the link above and choose "Save."  This will download the fact sheets to your computer.  The download is very large and will take between 1-8 minutes if you have a broadband connection and more than 1 hour if you have dial-up.  The file that you download is a zip file.  Once you have finished downloading the file, double click it and choose "Extract all files."  This will unzip the file and create 11 folders on your computer with all the fact sheets contained insides these folders.  In addition, you will have an index for all 200 fact sheets, which was created by Bob Resnick.

We ask all speakers who present PowerPoints at our general membership meetings to provide us with a copy of their presentation.  You can find those presentations here.  They are generally Adobe PDF files, so you do not need PowerPoint to view them.

Heather Powers has created a website and posted photos of various MG activities on it.  You can view these photos online at Flickr.  If you have photos of MG activities that you would like to share with your fellow MGs, email the photos to Heather, and she will add them to our Flickr site.

If you'd like to find a MG with a specific skill, (e.g. knowledge about roses or turf or pests, etc.) who might be able to help you with a gardening problem, you can download our skills database.  There are two identical versions of our database.  Most of you will want to download the PDF version of the database.  If you happen to have Excel on your computer, you may wish to download the Excel version of our database.

If you haven't filled out the survey to list your areas of gardening expertise, you can download the blank form and print it off.  Once you've completed the form, please give it to Linda Waters.  We will add you to our database.

We have a new Continuing Education calendar.  If you are looking for lectures or classes that will fulfill your annual continuing education requirement, be sure to visit the calendar.  Once you get to the Continuing Education calendar, you can choose other MG calendars by clicking on the right side of the page.  Available calendars include: plant clinics, gardening related events, advanced training, and others.

You can download old copies of our monthly newsletter.

We publish an annual report each year, which is available to you.   If you are trying to find an activity that will earn you hours, take a look at this list, which details every MG activity that occurs during the year.  Each activity on the list enables you to earn hours for your green sheet.  If you need a blank green sheet, you can download it to your computer and print it off.

We've listed the speakers who will make presentations at our upcoming (and past) monthly membership meetings.

If you're going to do work as a Master Gardener for an organization, they should first fill out this Letter of Compliance.  The Letter should be returned to Steve.

You can communicate with approximately 3/4 of your fellow Montgomery County Master Gardeners by joining our Yahoo listserve.

There are three pages related to advanced training: the annual advanced training day at the University of Maryland, courses offered by the Maryland Master Gardener program, and courses offered at the Landscape Technology Program at Montgomery College.

Our annual holiday party is held in December at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.  Here are directions and a map to help you find the location.

Photos on this web site were taken by Susan Bell, Gary Cahn, Ann Dorsey, Martha Fisher, Sheryl Freishtat, Len Friedman, Barbara Knapp, Katherine Lambert, Frank Lostumbo, Heather Powers, and Don Wittig.  Graphics were created by Don Wittig.  Elise Shurie helps maintain the web site.
