The Therapeutic Horticulture Program is a community outreach project. Its purpose is to teach horticulture, and to share its pleasures and benefits with special needs populations. This is accomplished through the use of garden-related activities, which serve as an aid to recovery and rehabilitation, or as a productive, life-enriching leisure activity.
The Therapeutic Horticulture Group provides garden-related programs at a number of different types of facilities from special education classes in schools to senior assisted living communities and nursing homes.

The programs involve hands-on horticulture activities for participants, which are designed and prepared by Master Gardener volunteers. Examples of projects include: growing houseplants, herbs and vegetables, making topiaries, planting terrarium and dish gardens, propagating plants, and arranging fresh and dried flowers.
