Grow It Eat It: Maryland's Food Gardening Network

Buying From Local Maryland Farms

As a group, vegetable gardeners are some of the most faithful supporters of local agriculture. We know what a "real" tomato, carrot, or green bean is supposed to taste like! Since we don't have the room or time to grow everything we love to cook and eat, we join CSAs (community supported agriculture), frequent farmers markets, and make the drive out to pick-your-own farms.

Most of the gardeners I know are also very concerned about over-development. As farms disappear we lose the benefit of their fresh products and the larger environmental services they provide. By buying direct from Maryland farms you help keep them profitable and growing. In return, you get the freshest, best tasting foods available!

Check out these great web sites for up to date information on where to buy Maryland produce, meats, eggs, cheese, dairy products, wines, nursery and greenhouse products and much more.

You'll be able to locate Maryland producers selling direct to the public at their farms and through their web sites. You'll find grass-fed, beef, vegetables and fruits, Christmas trees, nurseries and greenhouses. There are also directories for community supported agriculture (CSA) farms and farmers markets.
