4‑H Camp empowers young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime! Held at beautiful Camp Hashawha, Carroll County 4-H hosts two residential camping weeks. The first week is for youth ages 8-11 and the second week is for youth ages 10-16. At camp, we emphasize making new friends, trying new things, and learning to live and work as a group. Our campers are assigned to small groups that become their “family” for the week. Program activities vary from year to year, depending on the camp theme. Activities may include: hiking, seining, fishing, recreational sports/games, movie night, crafts, educational classes, outdoor cooking, and archery. Pool time is scheduled each day, weather permitting. The traditional campfire is a highlight of the week and a chance for campers to plan and perform group songs, skits, and cheers. The campfire is also accompanied with s’mores of course!
Cabins hold 36 campers and staff members and feature their own individual restrooms and showers. A virtual tour of the facilities can be found here (link website to “here” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q6L1XS5lAo). Meals are provided by Hashawha and are served family style. The kitchen is able to accommodate all types of dietary needs including vegetarians, vegans, diabetics, and campers with food allergies. Volunteer staff members include both youth teen leaders and adults that have undergone 30 hours of training annually. We are accredited through the American Camp Association which is a testament of our commitment to the well-being of campers and volunteer staff members.
