Dr. Sam Stribling will discuss the importance of biological monitoring in protecting ecological integrity, the steps for assessing stream health and some of the aquatic critters (insects, snails, worms, crustaceans, and fish) used as indicators of stream condition.

He will also show some results from his nearly two decades of work in PG County, and how they are being used for managing the county's watersheds.

He looks forward to interactive discussion of the efforts of Howard County's watershed stewards and those concerned with water quality are related to biological monitoring and assessment.
