Description/Notes:

The Master Gardener Program will be taught the fall of 2017 at Wicomico County Extension Office on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 12 noon starting September 9th to November 18th. The Master Gardener Mission is to Educate Maryland residents about safe, effective and sustainable horticultural practices that build healthy gardens, landscapes and communities. The Master Gardener Program provides about 40 hours of education from specialists in Botany, Composting, Diagnosing plant problems, Ecology, Entomology, Lawn Care, Native Plants, Pruning, Vegetable gardening and more. The cost is $165.00 and includes a Master Gardener Manual, a flash drive with all the fact sheets available from the University of Maryland and the Home and Garden Information Center. After you finish the Master Gardener training Program, you will be asked to volunteer 40 hours the first year and 20 each of the following years. . There are a number of opportunities provided for your volunteer hours, and I am very open to any suggestions that you may have. We have active plant clinics in Worcester County at the Ocean Pines Library and hope to have a new one at the Berlin Farmers Market. We also have a plant clinic at the Farmers Market at Asbury Church in Wicomico County. There is a Therapy Garden at the MAC Center (Maintaining Active Citizens) and the Taylor House Museum Gardens.

If you are interested in registering for the Master Gardener Training Program, please let me know by email at rosnkrnz@umd.edu. The check for $165.00 should be made out to the Wicomico EAC and can be mailed to the Wicomico Extension Office, PO Box 1836, Salisbury, MD 21802 or brought in at the first class.
