What is this workshop about?

This 3-day training workshop hosted by the University of Maryland-Extension is designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge and tools to comply with the new The Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-based Preventive Controls for Human Food regulation. The regulation requires that certain activities pertaining to this regulation such as writing food safety plan must be completed by ‘a preventive controls qualified individuals’. Successfully completing this course is one way to meet these requirements.

Who should attend?

Individual professionals responsible for regulation compliance, food safety and quality aspects within food processing operations. Other professionals who need to understand the new regulation to help their facility remain in the regulatory compliance are also encouraged to attend.

What is the curriculum?

We will follow a standardized curriculum developed by Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) and recognized by the FDA. More information about FSPCA can be found  here: http://www.iit.edu/ifsh/alliance/

Who are the Instructors?

The course will be taught by Dr. Rohan V. Tikekar (lead instructor) and Mr. David K. Park. Dr. Tikekar is an assistant professor in the department of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Maryland-College Park. His research focuses on developing novel processing technologies and evaluate their impact on food quality and safety. Mr. Park is Principal of Food-Defense, LLC  which offers specializations in support of  business management, technical services, training and operations for processors of  low-acid and acidified shelf-stable and ESL refrigerated foods. He is also an FDA and USDA-FSIS recognized process authority in the design and validation of thermal and novel non-thermal sterilized and pasteurized foods and packaging systems, food emergency response and programs for the implementation and compliance with FDA cGMP, HACCP and FSMA regulations.

What is included?

The registration fees of $595 includes all the course materials, certificates and meals (Breakfast, lunch and afternoon coffee)
