Nevin Dawson is the PI. A voluntary training program offered to MD/DEL loggers. This program conforms to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative standard to enhance the quality and safety of forest harvest operations through education, with the end result of improving the sustainability of forest management in Maryland and Delaware. Training consists of BMPs, first aid, general forest management practices, endangered species, communication skills and hands on field exercises. Educational methods include traditional classroom teaching, utilizing new distance education technology such as poly com and streaming videos along with tailgate educational programs.
