Dr. Josh McGrath is the PI. The is an annual educational meeting. The purpose is to refine the phosphorus site index incorporating the most current research and increasing its effectiveness as tool to protect water quality.
Regional experts (MD, DE, VA, PA, NY, WV, AR) on phosphorus transport and the phosphorus site index to are brought together annually to discuss updates to the index. Recently regional consensus was reached on improvement of the phosphorus solubility coefficient (PSC) factor. Ineffective factors in the index have been unidentified and efforts are currently underway to improve or replace these factors.
Impacts- The new PSC factor is being incorporated into P indexes in the Bay Watershed states. Currently Delaware and Maryland are re-writing their indexes with a target release date of April 2008.
