How to Become a Master Gardener 

Do you enjoy gardening and want to share your knowledge by educating & volunteering in the community? Take this course to become a Maryland Master Gardener in Charles County! The sessions are taught by University of Maryland Extension specialists, educators and other horticulture professionals.

Course participants must then complete 40 hours of volunteer service with the program to become Master Gardeners. Those with a Maryland Teaching Certificate may receive 3 CPD credits for completing the course. The course covers a range of topics related to plants, gardening and the environment. Our Master Gardener Basic Training Course is usually held from 6-9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from early February until early April.  In 2018, the class was $180/person (includes Master Gardener Handbook & course materials) and was held at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf, MD
