2019 Animal Ownership Deadlines for Cecil County & Maryland 4-H 

  • Enrolled in 4-H and applicable projects by May 1, 2019 to participate in 2019 Maryland State Fair and Cecil County Fair 4-H Events
  • Registration papers MUST be in the full name of the 4-H EXHIBITOR ONLY in order to be eligible as a 4-H project.
  • Poultry/Waterfowl and Rabbit/Cavy Ownership Forms due June 1, 2019
  • Dog and Horse Identification Cards due June 1, 2019
  • Breeding and Performance Animal Leases due June 1, 2019 (3 components-Guidelines, Agreement, and Statement of Understanding and Release)
  • Commercial (tagged) and Purebred Beef Heifers owned by June 1, 2019
  • Market Beef Steers owned by January 1, 2019 (Tagged & Weighed on 1/5)
  • Beef Feeder Calves owned and tagged by May 17, 2019 (Tagged & Weighed on 1/5, 5/16 or 5/17)
  • Dairy Cattle owned by June 1, 2019
  • Market Dairy Steers owned by January 1, 2019 (Tagged & Weighed on 1/5)
  • Dairy Feeder Calves owned and tagged by May 17, 2019  (Tagged & Weighed on 1/12, 1/14, 5/16 & 5/17)
  • Dairy Goats owned by June 1, 2019
  • Commercial (tagged) and Registered Breeding Meat Goats owned by June 1, 2019
  • Market Goats owned and tagged by May 17, 2019  (Tagged & Weighed on 5/16 or 5/17)
  • Dog owned/leased by June 1, 2019
  • Horse and Pony owned/leased by June 1, 2019

  • Breeding Animal Leases (Beef, Dairy, Sheep, Swine and Goats)-A member may not own and lease animals in the same general project area
  • Performance Animal Leases (Horse, Dog, Alpacas and Llamas)-An animal may be lease by up to two different 4-H members and can be exhibited in a single class by only one 4-H member.
  • All Dairy Cows must have been owned/leased by the youth before first freshening or before 2 years of age, whichever comes first. 
  • All Dairy Goats must have been owned/leased by the youth before first freshening or before 2 years of age, whichever comes first

    2019 Cecil County Fair Animal Ages and Weights

    • Market Broilers-Pair of broilers, each weighing a minimum of 3 lbs. each, under 7 weeks old (Hatched on or after May 31, 2019) *Submit copy of order receipt/shipping label  
    • Market Ducks-Pair of ducks, each weighing over 7 lbs. pounds each, (Hatched on or after May 1, 2019) *Submit copy of order receipt/shipping label
    • Market Rabbits-3 rabbits, 3-5 pounds each, under 70 days old (Born on or after May 12, 2019)
    • Market Goat-55-135 pounds (Born after 9/1/18 and must have milk teeth)
    • Market Beef-minimum 1000 pounds (Born on or after 8/1/17)
    • Dairy Steer-minimum 1000 pounds (Born on or after 8/1/17)
    • Market Lambs-90-155 pounds (Born on or after 1/1/19)
    • Market Hogs-220-290 pounds (Born on or after 1/1/19)
    • Youth are allowed to sell a maximum of 3 animals in the livestock sale and 2 per species

                                   Cecil County Fair 4-H Animal Exhibitor Orientation

    For exhibitors with animals that will be staying the week of the fair (herdsman, husbandry or required to stay based on rules).

    • June 10, 2019 - Livestock & Rabbit/Poultry Husbandry Participants, Sale & Exhibitor Orientation
