Nutrition & Food Safety

The focus of our Nutrition and Food Safety programs are aimed mainly at the practice of healthy diet and nutrition behaviors as well as improving knowledge and practice of food safety.

Food Guide Pyramid
The Food Guide Pyramid and Dietary Guidelines for Americans, as well as local and national statistics, serve as tools for helping consumers learn the facts about food and health. Programs are also tailored to specific groups.

Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
This program is designed to help limited resource families with young children improve their nutrition habits, follow recommended food safety practices, manage food dollars and utilize community resources. The EFNEP program involves a series of educational meetings, including hands-on food preparation and demonstrations. Small groups and individuals are worked with. To learn more about the EFNEP program, please call (410) 222-3903.

For more information on the Nutrition, Health, Wellness and Food Safety program, please contact the Anne Arundel County Family and Consumer Science Educator at (410) 222-3903.
