The University of Maryland Extension Agricultural Nutrient Management Program, along with the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA), co-sponsor many continuing education programs throughout the year to assist certified nutrient management consultants and certified farm operators in meeting their continuing education requirements.

Certified Farm Operators (CFOs) are required to obtain continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain certification. Two (2) CEUs are required during the initial year of certification. After this initial year, certification is administered on a three-year basis. Six (6) CEUs are needed every 3 years to maintain certification.
If attending a meeting such as a commodity group or grower meeting that includes topics on soil fertility, crop nutrient requirements, or water quality, those meetings may qualify for continuing education credits.
The Training Coordinator will assign credits based on the time devoted to the topic. To receive credits for a meeting that was not sponsored by MDA, mail or fax a copy of the agenda to the attention of:
