Children are our future. A stronger tomorrow will be builtby engaging young people in the development of skills andcompetencies today.
Actions:4-H Youth development educators and volunteers work intentionallyto design and conduct educational experiences in human sciences,animal sciences and environmental sciences. Young people, ages 5-18are nurtured in caring and supportive environments by associatingwith positive role models and having fun!
Impacts:- Statewide, approximately 40,000 youth are participating in 4-Hprograms, learning skills in leadership and responsibility. Over8,300 youth are involved in the 550 community 4-H clubs, whichenables them to lead committees, serve on planning boards and takean active role in positive community action.
- The next generation is expanding their communication anddecision-making skills as they engage in challenging,experientially based learning experiences such as science specialinterest programs, both day and resident camps and schoolenrichment programs.
- Youth are gaining useful knowledge, about themselves andothers, as they work independently and in small groups through adiverse offering of 140 subject matter projects.
